You can find day 23’s post from the #BigRead13 here.

Philippians 3:13 today:

Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead…

We’re asked to think about what life would be like without the ‘maybe ifs’. Maybe if I’d met Sarah when three friends lived in the block next to Sarah’s oh, nine years or so before we actually met? Maybe if I’d had the wisdom to put myself forwards at work long ago? Maybe if I’d read the Bible a few years earlier?

I’m not one of life’s risk takers. I wish I was, just slightly more. I wish I had the confidence to try things sometimes without fearing failure so much. After all, the future is waiting, unknown, a blank canvas. Whereas Jesus kept going forwards without any ‘maybe ifs’ – he knew what was coming, and yet he went forward without dwelling on the past.

Yet every day we can take a confident step every day.  Acknowledging our regrets, resolving to live life anew, and having the audacity to pray… as our Saviour has taught us, so we are bold to say…
