You can find day 26’s post from the #BigRead13 here.
Today’s Bible reading is Luke 10:27:
He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
It’s paired with a reading from Mere Christianity where CS Lewis explains that God wants us to give him all of us, and we’re asked how we square this with Day 25 where we are challenged as to how God values us each individually.
I don’t see a problem with this. Loving each of our fellow humans for who they are, rather than how like us we are; loving God as ourselves and in our own way with our own gifts – that’s what it is about. Some show their love for God in words; some in music; some in actions; many of us in a mix of different ways. Luckily for me, that I’m behind on blogging, I’ve pondered more on this great commission before back in the Advent Book Club on Day 12.
